Functions of the Internal Security Bureau:

The functions of the Internal Security Bureau are as follows:

1. To detect, prevent, and investigate criminal offences committed by officials and employees of the following institutions subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior:

  • State Police
  • State Border Guard
  • State Fire and Rescue Service
  • Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs
  • State Agency for Provision
  • Tax and Customs Police
  • Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior
  • Health and Sports Centre of the Ministry of the Interior
  • Polyclinic of the Ministry of the Interior

2. To detect, prevent, and investigate criminal offences committed by officials and employees of the Prison Administration.

3. To detect, prevent, and investigate criminal offences related to violence committed in the performance of official duties by:

  • Employees of the Port Police;
  • Employees of municipal police.

With regard to disciplinary offences committed by officials and employees of the above-mentioned institutions, please inform the heads of the responsible structural units of the respective institutions.

Upon receiving submissions from residents concerning alleged unlawful conduct by officials and employees of the above-mentioned institutions that does not fall within the competence of the Internal Security Bureau, the information is assessed and may be forwarded to the competent authority as appropriate.

Please note that the examination of complaints regarding the actions or decisions of officials conducting criminal proceedings does not fall within the competence of the Internal Security Bureau.
